The Babel Street team took one of the premier military-focused conferences by storm this February as an exhibitor and silver sponsor at AFCEA WEST. Taking place in San Diego this year, WEST is the premier sea services event focused on naval operations in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference serves as a showcase of emerging systems, platforms, technologies, and networks that will impact all areas of current and future sea service operations.
Babel Street and Rosette maintained two booths this year as our combined team jointly represented the capabilities found within our robust product offerings. The respective teams found no shortage of extremely interested leaders looking to understand how our solutions help solve some of the military’s biggest threat intelligence, alerting, and text analytics challenges. In fact, this year’s WEST conference was the largest in its 34-year history, with over 5,000 attendees.
A Showcase of Cutting-Edge Capabilities
The team seized this event as an opportunity to demonstrate the power of our AI-driven platform to warfighters, military decision-makers, and business integrators in-person. Interactions and direct product demos with dozens of active (or retired) Flag Officers, USN Captains, Senior Executive Service members and more, illustrated clearly why Babel Street is a leading choice for so many entities within the Department of Defense.
Investment in Babel Street technology fills analytics and alerting gaps across our nation’s defense operations, and enables a more productive, effective, accurate, and efficient military workforce that economizes limited resources. The AI/ML technology that powers Babel Street and Rosette offerings is a force multiplier, freeing our nation’s brave service members to focus their human judgement, attention, and energy on more complex and nuanced tasks.
To foster critical knowledge sharing across both Babel Street and Rosette’s exhibition booths, the event team put together a fun and unique process designed to reward conference attendees for visiting both exhibit locations. Visitors who stopped by both booths earned a $5 Starbucks gift card and a matched $5 donation from Babel Street to the Navy Safe Harbor Foundation. This charitable organization aims to ensure that every seriously wounded, ill and injured Navy and Coast Guard Sailor is given every opportunity for a full recovery by providing non-medical care and support to these individuals and their families.
The combined teams were so sharp with their messaging on the exhibit floor, in fact, that the hosts of ‘That Tech Pod” podcast shined a bright spotlight on Babel Street in their February 17th episode titled, “AFCEA WEST: Judging the Vendors” (available on Spotify, iTunes, and other major podcast outlets).

Hosts Laura and Kevin, unaware of Babel Street prior to the conference, came away incredibly impressed after interactions with our own team members Brian Plummer, Zach Demer, and Ryan Shidaker.
One of the most important aspects of the annual AFCEA WEST event is the way it brings together military leaders with technology companies like Babel Street. In fact, the conference is billed as the place to be for the makers of platforms and the designers of technologies to discuss and demonstrate solutions in a single locale. Our team used it as a great chance to network and stay informed around recent military requirement developments, while connecting with decision makers in a professional environment.
Our AI-powered products and services struck the right chord with a wide range of military personnel and ranking officers. Babel Street and Rosette’s combined offerings help U.S. service branches stay one step ahead as they work to save lives and protect national security interests. That’s precisely why our team already reserved space in the exhibit hall at AFCEA WEST 2024. If you’re headed back to San Diego for this event next year, we will see you there!
